During 2017 Scania wanted to take actions to further improve their customer relations within the truck and bus segment. The answer was to create an AR game, adapted to executives, purchasing managers and drivers from 28 different markets.
Augmented Reality (AR) is a gaming technology that combines the reality we see around us, with a digitally engineered world. Through the camera lens of e.g. an iPad, the user will see- and interact with 3D generated content (objects, architecture, vehicles etc.) that seem to exist within the real world.
On behalf of Scania we created unique miniature 3D worlds, where the users could compete by driving vehicles in multiple surroundings. Sometimes they would bump into questions, related to Scania’s services or regarding daily job situations.
There has been plenty of intense and lustful gaming sessions with loads of customers from all over the world.
“The game has brought us a new playful way of having dialogue with our customers – something that normally can be hard to achieve. Really, who wants to talk to their supplier about profits within their company? This technical solution became the answer to the communicative challenge – and not the other way around, which is a good sequence if you want a lasting value that exceeds the investment.”
